The most important factor in choosing a custom builder is the building process. We take our clients step-by-step through the custom homebuilding process and make sure they know what to expect along the way.
We will begin by meeting with you to discuss your vision for the new home and then present a budget.
We understand that the financial component of a construction loan can be challenging. That is why we, along with our lender partners, will help you decide what financing option is best for your family and budget.
After we have executed our purchase agreement, we will finish your building blueprints, and engineering, then submit everything to obtain a building permit.
Now it is time to break ground and begin the construction of your dream home. As it becomes a reality, we will work to make sure every stage of construction is completed with the highest level of quality & expertise.
One of the most valuable aspects of buying a new home is its warranty. We have several warranty programs we offer to our clients.
As a member of the 2-10 Home Warranty Program, we offer a 1-year builder warranty, a 2-year mechanical warranty, and a 10-year structural warranty for one reason.
There are many steps to building a house, from pouring the foundation to framing to choosing your paint colors. Below we have outlined Mutimer Custom Homes’ process of building a house, so you’ll know what to expect each step of the way.
Once we have acquired the appropriate permits, the first step in building a house is to prepare the land. During building site preparation, our crew will clear the lot of rocks, debris, or trees. Their goal is to level the site prior to pouring the foundation.

Next, we will pour the foundation. Foundations are typically built on slabs, basements, or crawl spaces. They often consist of poured concrete with steel rods.
During this step, we will install walls, windows, and doors, as well as the floor and roof systems. What’s known as the skeleton of your new house is starting to take shape! We will install a protective house wrap shield, to prevent moisture from affecting the structure, keeping mold and wood rot at bay.

Once the house is considered “dried in” (i.e., covered with the house wrap), it’s time to move to plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems. After they’re installed, an inspector will approve your pipes, electrical wiring, and heating and cooling ducts.
Adding insulation is an important step for controlling a house’s temperature and keeping cooling and heating costs low. Foam, fiberglass, and cellulose are common insulation materials. We will typically insulate exterior walls, and areas around a basement, crawl spaces, and attic.

Once the drywall goes up, your house’s interior will begin to look complete. We will hang drywall and cover any raised surfaces, like seams or nails, with a spackling compound.
Once the drywall is in place, your builder will focus on interior finishes, such as the fireplace, mantle, internal doors and window sills, and decorative trim. This is the time that we begin to bring in the paint and wall features such as tile.

Driveways, walkways, and patios are next! Things are starting to take shape outside your new home too. We will complete exterior grading to ensure proper drainage away from the house and make sure your new yard is coming along nicely.
In this step, we will install fixtures, such as light switches and faucets. You’ll also see your toilets and sinks added. Your HVAC system is now complete.

Next, we will install either hardwood flooring or carpets. When making your selections, consider which is right for you in each room of your home.
A building code official completes a final inspection and issues a certificate of occupancy. If any defects are found during this inspection, a follow-up inspection may be scheduled to ensure that they’ve been corrected. This can sometimes take up to a week

Your dream home is ready! Once construction and inspections have been completed, we will walk you through your new home to acquaint you with its features and the operation of various systems and components and explain your responsibilities for maintenance and upkeep, as well as warranty coverage and procedures. Once the Certificate of Occupancy is issued by the local municipality, and the lender issues the final funds, you’re ready to move in!
Sixty days after we deliver keys to your new home, we’ll perform a 60-day Warranty Check-Up to ensure everything in the home is performing as intended

11 months into your 1-year builder warranty, we will once again check in to make sure everything is working as it should be, and explain the process for the remainder of your warranty.
